70 Parts, One Big Blue Ocean

·

Seventy parts. That’s all FS Leinad needed to conjure up an entire ocean scene for the Rogue Olympics building contest, where the week two prompt was simply: “Blue.”

A LEGO sea turtle swimming through a deep blue ocean scene, built with just 70 parts featuring clever part orientation for the organic turtle head

What you’re looking at is a turtle and its underwater world — built with the kind of restraint that makes you stare harder, not less. The turtle’s head is the real showstopper here, using clever part orientation that immediately reads as organic and alive. The color work is pure — that deep blue base selling the ocean while the turtle pops with natural greens and tans. It’s NPU (nice part usage) at its finest: every single piece is pulling double duty, and nothing feels wasted.

There was apparently a whale too, but it didn’t survive the 70-part budget. Tough cuts in the editing room.
