Eighty-six parts. That’s all it takes to hit 88 miles per hour — at least when you’re building in microscale. Dan Ko took the Speed Champions DeLorean sitting on his desk, squinted at it, and said “I can do this smaller.”

Built for the third round of the Rogue Olympics competition, this tiny time machine nails the hover-mode DeLorean with some genuinely clever part usage. The black tires rotated sideways to simulate the folded-in hover configuration? Chef’s kiss. The trans-clear slope piece standing in for the entire windshield canopy captures the gullwing silhouette perfectly at this scale. And that little flex hose running underneath adds just enough detail to sell the Mr. Fusion exhaust without overcomplicating things.
Dan Ko describes himself as someone who creates “art toys with LEGO bricks, passion and love” — and with nearly 800 builds on his Flickr, the man clearly means it. This little DeLorean punches way above its part count.
