A Tablet with a Froggy Disposition

·

Oky – Space Ranger celebrates Frogust with a delightfully weird bit of Pixar plastic: Lilypad, the iPad-like antagonist from Toy Story 5. And because Oky never seems content with the obvious route, this is not just a rectangular brick-built tablet. The whole thing is built around an old LEGO photo frame, part 4212659, turning a forgotten accessory into the perfect foundation for a sentient screen.

That choice does a ton of heavy lifting. The frame gives Lilypad a clean, chunky bezel with just enough real-world object energy to sell the “toy pretending to be tech” vibe. It is exactly the sort of parts-bin archaeology I love: take a specialized piece most of us would overlook, squint at it sideways, and suddenly it is character design.

The printed screen image is the only non-LEGO element here, and honestly, that feels fair. Lilypad needs that glossy digital face, and the insert lets the brick-built body stay simple and sharp. The surrounding LEGO work then becomes all about presentation: tidy shaping, a nice stand-like presence, and the sort of polished finish that makes it feel less like a prop and more like a tiny menace waiting to buffer your childhood memories.

Oky has always had a knack for matching the right object to the right part, and this one is a perfect little example. It is funny, specific, and just a bit uncanny — which is pretty much exactly where a Pixar tablet villain should live.
