Some heroes make an entrance. A Toa of Air ought to make a draft. dviddy’s A Toa of Air taps into that wonderfully specific BIONICLE itch: elemental warriors, mechanical bodies, and names that send you straight back to the toy aisle.
The builder, Patrick Biggs of Vejle, Denmark, files this creation under both BIONICLE and fusion mecha. That crossover is catnip for me. BIONICLE gives builders a character language to play with, while the wider LEGO toolbox offers opportunities to reinterpret it. The fun lies in finding the balance between a recognizable Toa and something that belongs unmistakably to its maker.
There’s a team angle here, too: the Flickr description places this Air entry in a “Six Toa” lineup, linking fellow elemental builds. Naturally, that makes this a gateway to a much longer browsing session. One Toa leads to another. Apparently my afternoon has been scattered to the winds.
