Some Star Wars droids deliver important messages. Others turn your starfighter into an unscheduled bag of spare parts. The buzz droid belongs firmly in that second category, and Polish LEGO fan Remek, better known as liptonekbricks, has picked this little menace as the subject of a standalone MOC.

I have a soft spot for the galaxy’s less glamorous machinery. Give me the scuttling maintenance nightmare over another planet-busting superweapon any day. Buzz droids make such good LEGO subjects because their appeal is all mechanical personality: tools, limbs, and the distinct suggestion that your warranty is about to become irrelevant.
That’s also where the building challenge gets interesting. With a subject like this, connections and proportions have to do the acting; there’s no friendly minifigure grin to carry the character. It’s a great excuse to think beyond a part’s intended job. Just keep the finished droid away from your UCS collection. Those repair bills are already astronomical.
