Forget the finish line. Xavier CLEMENT has sent the parts from LEGO Speed Champions set 77262 on a rather longer trip: into microscale cruiser territory. Trading the racetrack for deep space? That’s my kind of alternate build.

The catch is that Xavier limited himself to pieces from that single set. No raiding the parts drawers for one more wedge, no emergency BrickLink order. As building exercises go, that’s a proper test of your ability to see something other than the model on the box.
Xavier says his goal was a realistic aesthetic and an easy-to-read shape. At microscale, that’s a worthwhile target: you’re suggesting a whole ship with a small vocabulary of parts, so every choice has work to do.
He’s candid that this isn’t his best construction, but enjoyed the challenge. I appreciate that spirit. Sometimes the point isn’t building your masterpiece; it’s finding out whether your race car has a second career in the fleet.
