The Wild West called. It wants a boiler upgrade. Andreas Lenander, better known as adde51, is crossing frontier country with retro-futurist engineering in SteamWest – stagecoach. That title alone sounds like the start of a tabletop campaign I would absolutely lose a weekend to.
A stagecoach is a lovely starting point for this genre mashup: familiar enough to establish the western setting, with plenty of conceptual room for steam-powered mischief. Forget sticking to the railway timetable. This is an invitation to imagine a frontier where the local mechanic might be more important than the fastest gun.
The Swedish AFOL and Star Wars collector says he has started working on “a few steampunk western builds,” with more to come. That’s the bit that has me leaning forward. One vehicle introduces the premise; a whole SteamWest could give it somewhere to go. Consider this particular trail officially worth following.
