Get in the GT-R, Shinji

SergioBatista takes two icons with extremely loud fanbases, locks them in a garage together, and somehow the result feels inevitable. His EVA-01 × Nissan GT-R R34 is a 35 cm tall, roughly 1,000-piece mashup of Evangelion biomech and Japanese street legend, with Unit-01’s lanky menace tuned up like it just rolled out of a midnight meet.

The big win here is that Sergio doesn’t simply slap car bits onto a robot and call it a day. The R34 influence is threaded through the silhouette in a way that feels mechanical rather than costume-y. The chest and shoulder shaping carry that squared-off performance-car attitude, while the long limbs and hunched aggression still read instantly as EVA-01. It’s fan service, but the responsible kind.

I’m especially into the layered armor work. Purple, green, and black can get messy fast, but the color blocking is sharp enough to keep the eye moving across the build. There’s a lot of clever paneling packed into the torso, with exposed mechanical greebles giving it that “barely contained experimental weapon” energy. And yes, the illuminated core and glowing eyes are exactly the sort of spicy little drama this concept deserves.

Fully articulated mechs at this scale can be tricky beasts, since every cool angle is fighting gravity like an Angel attack. Sergio’s posing keeps the model feeling athletic, not statue-stiff, and the long feet and armored legs give it some real presence. The detail shots also show off how much thought went into the engineering under the armor, which is always where the good nerd candy lives.

From Lisbon with love, horror, trains, monuments, and apparently cybernetic supercars, SergioBatista has built a crossover that should not work nearly this well. Now I just need the pit crew at NERV to install a twin-turbo S2 engine.
