“Let’s cut through the swamp,” said the adventurer who clearly hadn’t read the quest description. Karf Oohlu Lite’s ‘Gnash’ The Mud Swamp Serpent sounds like exactly the encounter waiting to turn that shortcut into a side quest. Possibly a very short one.

The wonderfully nasty name does some heavy lifting here. “Gnash” isn’t a creature you feed breadcrumbs to. Pair it with “Mud Swamp Serpent” and my brain immediately supplies bubbling bog water, abandoned equipment, and a suspicious lack of frogs.
Tagged as microscale, this LEGO fantasy creature taps into one of my favorite things about building small: scale is an invitation to imagine bigger. A serpent needn’t occupy your entire dining table to become the monster lurking at the edge of a fantasy map.
I’m already mentally assigning this fellow a terrible movement penalty and an unreasonable number of hit points. The sensible party brings a boat. My party? We’re bringing a smaller boat and several bad ideas.
