Half Spider, All Business

There’s a whole corner of the LEGO community dedicated to building their own versions of Tachikoma — the adorable spider-tanks from Ghost in the Shell. Every March, the #Marchikoma challenge brings out some of the wildest interpretations, and Entertainingly lame’s “Arachnikoma” is one of the meanest little machines I’ve seen this year.

With 590 builds on Flickr and a bio that reads “im just bricks about lego!!!” — yeah, this builder walks the walk. Their feed is a rabbit hole of sci-fi mechs, underwater scenes, and creative vignettes that bounce between themes like someone raiding every bin in their parts collection (and judging by the background of their WIP shots, they’ve got a lot of bins).

The Arachnikoma itself is compact but packed with character. Four spindly black legs give it that creepy insectoid stance, while the body uses dark tan wedge plates and a cluster of black Technic elements to create something that looks like it could skitter across a battlefield. The mounted cannon up top and the red targeting decals on the chest panel sell the military vibe. Next to the heavily-armed minifigure operator, it’s the perfect little murder-bot.

What makes this builder worth following is the range — spider-tanks one day, Aqua Raiders-inspired underwater mechs the next. If you dig compact, character-driven sci-fi builds, Entertainingly lame’s feed is a goldmine.
