Ordovis, the Forbidden Leviathan has the exact energy of something you should absolutely not wake up at the bottom of the ocean. N.A.B.E_mocs starts with a wonderfully specific spark: the lower leg armor from Lord Vladek looked enough like a dragon’s mouth to become the seed for an entire sea monster. That is the good stuff. One odd part, stared at sideways, suddenly grows teeth.

The first thing that jumps out is the texture. This creature is not just big and black and scary. It is armored. The body is covered in individual scales made from minifigure flippers, and the choice to show the ridged side gives the whole beast a rough, living surface. It feels less like a smooth sculpture and more like something that has been scraping through trenches for a few thousand years.
Then come the colors. Black does the heavy lifting for menace, but the dark turquoise patterning keeps Ordovis from becoming a silhouette with fins. Those markings read like deep-sea bioluminescence, especially with the LEGO DREAMZzz armor elements tucked along the belly and dorsal areas. There is a creepy little suggestion there, almost like ancient faces glowing under the armor, which is very much the correct level of unsettling for a forbidden leviathan.
The dorsal fins are another clever touch. NINJAGO cape pieces bring a soft, drifting shape to the back, breaking up the hard scaled body and making the creature feel like it is moving through water even while posed for the camera. It is dramatic, part dragon, part abyssal nightmare, and fully brick-built monster nonsense in the best possible way.
