Kris_Kelvin finally gets around to building HAL 9000, and honestly, some subjects are so clean they almost dare you to underestimate them. HAL is not a spaceship, robot, or elaborate scene. It is a glowing red eye, a calm voice, and one of the most unsettling presences in science fiction. Translating that into LEGO means the build has to nail mood more than complexity, which is its own kind of challenge.

What I like here is the confidence of choosing such an iconic minimalist target. A HAL 9000 build lives or dies on presentation: the dark panel, the centered lens, the sense that this little object is quietly judging every human in the room. Too much detail would ruin it. Too little and it becomes just a red dot. When done right, though, HAL is pure visual shorthand for sinister space-age control, and that is a lovely fit for brick-built display art.
