Some LEGO creations win you over with massive scenery or wild part usage. Others do it with pure character, and +Khorne’s Lord Rein van Helborg, Tales of Old absolutely falls into that second camp. This is figbarf with purpose, the kind where every plume, heraldic flourish, and carefully chosen accessory tells you exactly who these people are before you have read a single word of backstory.
Lord Rein himself has the look of someone who expects the trumpets to sound the moment he enters the field. Mounted and flanked by his retinue, he feels every bit the wealthy noble scion described in the lore, with a presentation that leans into status, ceremony, and a touch of tournament swagger. That is what makes this build click for me. It is not just a collection of good minifig parts, it is a coherent cast. The colors and equipment feel curated rather than random, and the group reads as a household with history instead of a pile of cool fantasy torsos.
I always enjoy seeing castle builders treat minifig composition as storytelling, and +Khorne clearly gets that. This one feels ready to ride straight out of a chronicle and into the lists.
