Pistash has tapped into a wonderfully strange corner of comics history with Little Nemo in Nightmare land, and I am instantly charmed by the choice. Winsor McCay’s Little Nemo in Slumberland already lives in that gorgeous borderland between whimsy and unease, so pushing the character a little further into nightmare territory feels completely right. This is the sort of source material that practically begs for a LEGO interpretation, because it is built on visual invention, theatrical staging, and dream logic.

What I love most here is the image at the center of it all: Little Nemo traveling on his bed through impossible worlds. That is such a perfect storybook silhouette. It is funny, vulnerable, and slightly eerie all at once, which makes it ideal for a contest theme like “Nightmare.” A build like this does not need to rely on brute scale or tons of action. It wins by creating mood, and the source material already gives Pistash a rich palette of wonder, tension, and old-school surrealism to play with.
I also have a soft spot for MOCs that draw from cult classics instead of the usual big fandom suspects. That gives the whole thing a more personal, curated feel, like the builder is inviting you into a favorite dream rather than just recreating a famous scene. That is a lovely energy, and very fitting for Little Nemo.
