Metru Nui’s Fancy Feathered Show-Off

·

Peacocks are already nature’s most extra birds, so building one out of Bionicle feels almost unfair. obsessionist_seth’s Metru Peacock takes the proud strut and fanfare of the real bird and runs it through a glorious Metru Nui filter, all sweeping armor, mechanical poise, and “yes, I absolutely meant to stand like this” attitude.

What makes this sing is the commitment to Bionicle as a language, not just a parts bin. The build leans into those big characterful shapes: curved shells become plumage, jointed limbs give the bird that slightly alien biomechanical posture, and the layered tail reads as both feathers and machinery. That’s the sweet spot for constraction MOCs — when the parts still feel like Bionicle, but the subject is instantly recognizable anyway.

I especially like how the peacock’s silhouette does the heavy lifting. The small body tucked under a broad display gives the model its theatrical punch, while the long neck and alert head keep it from turning into just a fancy fan on legs. There’s a lot of personality in that stance. You can practically hear it clacking across the Great Temple plaza, judging every Toa’s color scheme.

The “Metru” part of the title is doing some fun work too. This doesn’t feel like a natural peacock that wandered into a LEGO bin; it feels like something engineered, archived, or maybe accidentally unleashed from a Vahki maintenance sublevel. The armor shapes create a bird that belongs in the Bionicle universe, equal parts elegant and mildly hazardous.

With two detail shots available, this is the kind of MOC worth clicking through for the connections. Constraction builds often hide their cleverness in plain sight, and I’d bet there are some sneaky little linkages keeping all that feathered drama upright.
