-soccerkid6 marks the return road to castle season with Apes-at-Arms, and honestly, that is a very strong way to warm up for the Summer Joust. A quick “Aperil” build with fantasy monkey guards, treasure, plants, pots, and medieval flavor is exactly the kind of playful side quest that makes LEGO castle feel alive. Not every guard post needs grim knights and solemn banners. Sometimes it needs apes with authority.
What I like here is the mix of silliness and genre instinct. Castle builders are very good at making small scenes feel like they belong to a larger world, and this sounds like one of those compact character vignettes where the figures do most of the storytelling. The treasure chest gives them something to protect, the fantasy framing gives the joke room to breathe, and the apes-at-arms concept lands instantly. It is goofy, but in a way that still feels properly medieval-adventure coded. Summer Joust prep has rarely looked this hairy.
