The Whimsical Brick’s NEPHILIM feels like the thing you find in the sealed-off part of Mata Nui where nobody put a light brick for a reason. It is not a monster charging at you. It is worse: a black, many-eyed shrine with colorful tendrils spread out like a warning sign from the Bionicle subconscious.

The real hook here is the self-imposed time lock. The builder pushed to make sure every piece could have existed by early 2010, before the end of Bionicle Stars, and that constraint gives the whole model its crunchy G1 flavor. Those ribbed flex tubes radiating from the central body are doing beautiful work, turning simple color into dread. Blue, green, red, yellow, white, purple, and teal should feel cheerful, but arranged like a halo of sensory organs, they become deeply unsettling. Taste the rainbow, question your sanity.
I love how compact the core is. The glossy black shell around the red stud cluster makes the “face” read instantly, almost like an eye, almost like a mask, almost like something that has too many answers. The tripod-like supports and low black base keep it grounded without making it feel mechanical in the usual robot-warrior sense. It reads more like an artifact that unfolded itself when you got too close.
The little white skull-ish bits around the scene are a smart scale cue, too. They make the central thing feel less like a display ornament and more like a discovery site. Somebody was here before you. It did not go great.
For a BioCup pregame build, this is a nasty little flex: old parts, old rules, and a very fresh sense of unease.
