Portals, Assemble!

·

flambo14 has gone straight for the goosebumps button with this Avengers: Endgame final battle diorama, and yes, I can hear the Alan Silvestri score doing push-ups in the background. The smartest choice here is also the loudest one: those stacked trans-orange portal rings. They give the whole scene its rhythm, pulling your eye around the battlefield while letting each returning hero get a tiny theatrical entrance.

Portals, Assemble!

What makes the build work is that it is not just a pile of minifigures on gray plates. The rubble has layers. Curved slopes, broken wall fragments, clipped-on debris, and angled panels make the ground feel smashed instead of merely studded. That matters in a crowded Marvel scene, because without a strong base this kind of thing can turn into superhero soup very quickly.

The oversized Ant-Man is the big plastic exclamation point, looming behind the action with just enough bulk to sell the scale gag. I also like how the portals are mounted at different heights and depths. Some heroes are stepping through, some are mid-air, and a few are tucked behind the ruins, which keeps the composition from flattening into a lineup.

There are fun little story beats everywhere: Cap and Mjolnir down in the scrum, Iron Man ready for his terrible, shiny destiny, Thor charging in, Hulk anchoring the center, Spider-Man swinging through the chaos, and Thanos waiting for the universe’s worst group project to arrive. Even Doctor Doom sneaking into the tag list feels like the multiverse trying to get an early invite.

Big crossover battle MOCs live or die by readability, and this one earns its crowd scene. It is busy, nerdy, and proudly melodramatic – exactly how the final battle should feel in LEGO form.
