S-foils open and ready for maximum swoosh

paradoxalumnus clearly understands the sacred rule of LEGO starfighters: if it is very swooshable, you are already halfway to greatness. Anakin + Obi-Wan (S-Foils Open) tackles the Eta-2 Interceptor, a ship with a deceptively tricky shape. It looks simple at first glance, but getting those slim proportions, aggressive forked wings, and compact cockpit area to feel right in LEGO is no small thing.

What I appreciate most here is the builder’s stated goal: compact, proportionally faithful, and detailed without turning the model into a bulky display brick. The Eta-2 needs to feel fast and sharp, not overfed. That makes restraint just as important as detail. The fact that the only play feature is a freely rotating astromech actually feels fitting, because the real joy of this ship is not hidden gimmicks. It is picking it up, opening those s-foils, and making questionable engine noises across the room.

I also like the transparency about influences. Drawing from other Eta-2 MOCs, including ClassicBrix’s wing approach, then adding personal refinements is very much how fan design evolves. LEGO building is often a conversation across models, where one smart solution inspires another builder to push the shape a little further. That collaborative lineage feels especially appropriate for a ship as heavily explored as the Jedi interceptor.

Compact Star Wars ships are unforgiving, but when the proportions click, they become little gems. This one sounds like it was built with patience, respect for the source material, and the correct understanding that swooshability is not optional.
