Some LEGO parts belong in a mechanic’s toolbox. Others belong in a bun. In captain_j03’s Hotdogs and Schwimmwagen, that distinction gets a little chewy: the accompanying minifigure conversation reveals that somebody’s snack is actually the Volkswagen’s grab handle. Please don’t eat the bodywork.

Builder Martin Spunkt’s six-wide VW Typ 166 has an update worth putting lunch down for. As his mechanic explains, new parts provide “a real bar for the front” and “an official cut-out edge for the rear.” The practical payoff? Other builders can reproduce those details without reaching for a fretsaw.
That’s the sort of revision I love: revisiting a model when the parts palette finally catches up with the idea. No cutting required, just another reason to keep tabs on new elements. The dialogue’s counterproposal—teach everyone to use a fretsaw instead—is wonderfully cheeky. I’m siding with the mechanic here. Save the sharp tools for opening the mustard, and leave the grab handles out of the picnic.
