Stacks on stacks of bricks

·

There’s something wonderfully meta about a LEGO display inside a library: tiny plastic stories sitting among thousands of paper ones. This display at Newcastle’s Central Library, photographed by millicand@rocketmail.com, has that delightful “come closer and spot the details” energy that makes public LEGO exhibits such a treat.

What I love here is the sense of abundance. This isn’t one lonely model on a plinth — it feels like a proper brick-built cabinet of curiosities, the kind of thing that stops you mid-errand and suddenly you’re explaining SNOT techniques to a confused but polite friend. The available detail shots help sell the fun, giving us a better look at the little scenes and clever bits tucked throughout the display.

Libraries and LEGO both reward patient looking, so this feels like a perfect pairing. Browse the shelves, browse the studs, repeat as necessary.
