Steam rises at the torii gate

·

LegoHobbitFan takes a hard left turn from the usual shrine scene with Steampunk Torii, a Brickworld Chicago 2026 build that mashes up Asian architectural cues with pipes, pistons, and a good old-fashioned robot buddy. And honestly? That combo has more click than a bag of reddish brown hinge plates.

Steam rises at the torii gate

The torii gate is the obvious anchor here, giving the model a strong silhouette before the steampunk details start bubbling up around it. I’m always a sucker for builds that mix genres without letting one completely swallow the other, and this one keeps the balance nicely: bamboo and gate shapes on one side, mechanical weirdness and industrial energy on the other.

There’s also something very fun about the description admitting the build “went in a very different direction” than planned. That’s peak LEGO creativity right there — follow the parts, trust the table, and suddenly you’ve got a robot hanging out at a steam-powered torii.
