Summer, apparently, fits neatly on a 16×16 plate if Crescentius SH is doing the packing. This little slice of vacation is half beach postcard, half LEGO color study, with the whole sky built from staggered bands of yellow, orange, pink, magenta, and purple. The dark horizon line grounds all that sunset candy before it floats away completely.

My favorite trick is how graphic the scene stays even with the palm and surfboard popping forward. The round sun is almost hilariously simple, but it works because the surrounding masonry-brick texture does the heavy lifting. Then the palm gets wonderfully scruffy, with tan strands drooping over a stacked brown trunk that feels just irregular enough to be alive. Add the bright blue surfboard leaning in the sand and suddenly I can hear flip-flops squeaking across hot pavement.
