The Frog Marches On

·

Frogust may be hopping toward the finish line, but Umbra-Manis is making sure it goes out with a full military parade and an absolutely unreasonable amount of amphibian authority. Frog Army on Parade celebrates the Democratic Frog’s Republic of Marshalia, where President-General Dart surveys the troops from the balcony of the Grand Swamp Memorial. Naturally.

There are a few things here that have me grinning like a tadpole in a toy aisle:

1. The frog suits. Taking the LEGO frog costume minifigure and multiplying it into a full army is such a gloriously silly idea. One frog is cute. A battalion of them is worldbuilding.

2. The parade units. Elite Dragonfly Riders? Cattail Guard? 17th Memorial Artillery? These names do half the heavy lifting, and the builds sell the rest. It feels like a tiny nation with a very damp constitution.

3. The monumentality. The Grand Swamp Memorial gives the whole thing that big state-parade energy, but filtered through marsh reeds and bug cavalry. That contrast is LEGO humor at its finest.

4. The digital polish. Umbra-Manis is primarily a digital builder, and it shows in the clean composition and army-builder scale. The scene feels packed without becoming visual mud.

It’s goofy, clever, and just militarized enough to make me salute with a lily pad.
