The Vic Viper Gets a Mixtape

·

Loys Nuva’s The AURORA looks like it flew straight out of an arcade cabinet, bounced off a synthwave album cover, and landed on a BrickLink Designer Program stand with its hair absolutely perfect. The Vic Viper DNA is right there: twin forward prongs, long guns, a tucked cockpit, and a body that seems allergic to moving slowly. But the old-school white fuselage with turquoise fins and those orange-yellow racing bands gives it a wonderfully toyetic 1980s snap.

What I really like is how much of the shaping is doing double duty. The twin cylindrical engine pods are clean and chunky without turning into featureless tubes, with curved white panels stepping around the surface just enough to imply volume. The colored striping breaks up all that white at exactly the right moments, like a LEGO Space uniform stretched over a fighter jet. Meanwhile, the cyan edges sharpen the whole silhouette. They are not just pretty highlights; they visually separate every wing, fin, and aileron so the ship reads clearly even with all those overlapping surfaces.

The nose sections are especially tasty. The black tips and long cannons give the build bite, while the small orange and yellow tiles in the forward wings feel like tiny instrument lights or hazard panels. There is also a nice contrast between sleek shell and exposed machinery: dark gray grille textures sit inboard from the fins, and black greebling around the rear thrusters keeps the retro-futuristic vibe from getting too polished.

At 1,241 parts, this is a sizable swoosher, but it still feels designed around play. The cockpit takes a minifigure, and Loys even works storage into the display stand for the pilot’s helmet or hair. That is the sort of little practical detail that makes a display model feel loved instead of merely posed. If this is what dawn looks like in the future, sign me up for the early flight.
