This brick-built cat duo is all curves and cuddle power

·

Brick-built cats can go wrong fast. Lean too hard into realism and they stiffen up, go too cute and they lose shape. Oersoep threads that needle beautifully here with a bold red wall piece that turns two lounging cats into pure graphic design.

Black and white LEGO cat sculpture curled together against a bright red brick-built background

The white cat is all tucked curves and soft oval volume, while the black cat wraps around it like a protective shadow. Big smooth shells do most of the heavy lifting, but the little details sell the personality: pink noses, whisker bars, the oversized cartoon eyes, and that single paw resting inward. It feels affectionate without getting sugary, which is harder to pull off in LEGO than it looks.

This also feels very on-brand for Dutch builder Vladimir van Hoek, better known as Oersoep. He has more than 900 Flickr uploads, and that experience shows in how economical the build is. The palette stays disciplined, black, white, and red, with just a touch of warm tan around the muzzles, and the background framing gives the whole thing the punch of a poster rather than just a sculpture on a table.

Built for BrickNerd’s AdoraBuild contest, this “sweet scene” earns the label. It is playful, instantly readable, and packed with just enough shaping finesse to make AFOLs stop and inspect how those curves were pulled off.
